Prolotherapy (or ligament reconstruction therapy), is a safe, non-surgical treatment for chronic pain. Chronic pain often caused by ligaments being stretched and weakened:

  • Neck
  • Back
  • Shoulders
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Athletic Injuries of the Joints
  • Whiplash-Type Pains

Prolotherapy targets the weakened and stretched ligaments. The treatment itself is simple but requires an expert understanding of the anatomy. Once the problem areas are identified, they will be injected with medication designed to stimulate a healing response. Studies show that ligaments that have been injected with these medications grow larger and stronger. The injections are carried out after local anesthesia.

Generally a series of injections is needed at two to eight week intervals. A total of 3 to 10 treatments will be needed. In some cases, more treatments are needed. Prolotherapy is neither the start nor the end of your treatment; it is the middle. After your Prolotherapy, a comprehensive physical medicine program will be designed for you.
